Stockholm during the Autumn break! :)

Hey everybody!

Yesterday I came back home, after one hole week in Stockholm. ๐Ÿ™‚

I flew on Sunday from ร„ngelholm to Stockholm-Arlanda; it was a short (1 hour) but pleasant journey up to the North. I stayed the first four days by my host-sister Emilia. She lives in a students-flat where she has her own little room; she shares the kitchen with other fourteen students. The flat is located about 8 minutes from Stockholm-center; so it is really practical. The first two days/night also a ex-exchangestudent from Holland came to visit her; so we where tree people sharing a ca. 16×5 meters room!! ๐Ÿ™‚ (but it was good…). It was my first time that I lived in a students-flat… (during the meals you (I) get to know many other Swedish and „not-swedish“ students; Nice!). We’ll see when I will study, where I will live and how it will be… ๐Ÿ™‚

While Emilia was at school or while she had to study (a lot!), I visited by myself Stockholm! ๐Ÿ™‚

The first day was very cold and windy! I just went around (with the Dutch guy) the city, taking many pictures (quite too many!); mostly I went through the „modern city-center“ (with all the modern and new fashion shops) and in the famous „Gamla Stan“ („old city“; which is the „old stockholm“, build on a island). In the late afternoon, we met Emilia for a familiarly „fika“ („afternoon snack“ with tee/coffee, and a lot of talking…). Then I decided to prepare the dinner (a delicious chicken-„spezzation“ with a curry-sauce, rice and normal salad)! ๐Ÿ™‚ We ended the day with a film (on Emilias computer) and with swiss chocolate… ๐Ÿ˜‰

The other two days I spent the most of my time just watching the city from „outside“ (from the streets) and taking many pictures! ๐Ÿ™‚ I went also in some museums: the „Kungligaslottet“ (the Royal palace) and one about Stockholm during the Middle-Ages (this one was a bit boring, not interesting…). Both museums were „free-entry“ for me, because all the teenagers under 17, don’t pay during the school-holidays… ๐Ÿ™‚ Not bad ehh?! ๐Ÿ™‚ Before I left ร„ngelholm, I went in a local Videoshop (where you can hire DVDs) and took 5 films for only 100 SEK (ca. 14.50 fr)! ๐Ÿ™‚ So, every evening, while Emilia had to study a lot, I watched a nice film (always in english)… ๐Ÿ™‚ Quite relaxing and „unusual“; but sometimes it is good to take it easy and relax. ๐Ÿ™‚

The YFUs Stockholm-trip began onย thursday afternoon. We stayed (slept) in a boat, called Gustaf av Klimt. The boat was always standing at the „curb“ butย of corse in the water! Because of that, when you were standing, you staggered a little, that made you felt drunk or that you were going to pass out!! ๐Ÿ˜‰ The cabins and the beds were very little and narrow; it was also quite cold inside.

The first afternoon, we visited together the „old city“ (Gamla Stan), where we had a very extrovert but pleasant guide. On the morning of the second day we went at the „Skansen“: a big park with many swedish animals and some typical swedish houses or just swedish old culture; that was also nice, but a bit short. In the afternoon we visited the „Kungligaslottet“ (I say „again“ for me). On Saturday morning we visited the Vasa museum: a really nice one, about a big ship (called Vasa) that had the same ending some the Titanic: in the Middle-Adge it sank after only 100 meters… ๐Ÿ™ ๐Ÿ˜‰ ย  The „trip“ ended on Sunday actually, but did my journey back onย Saturday afternoon, because the next day I had a very important innebandy test, witch I didn’t wanted to miss. (Innebandy test, that „in the end“ didn’t took place for me, because I „got out“ earlier (I couldn’t continue with this selection)…; so actually it wasn’t necessary that I came home earlier… but the tickets were already shopped.).

Meeting other exchange students was the best part of my holiday!! ๐Ÿ˜€ We had really a good time together! ๐Ÿ™‚ I passed mostly my time with a girl from Belgium; we talked about all but mostly about our exchange year, and always in french! ๐Ÿ™‚ Maybe I will visit her in during the Christmas-holiday in Falun! ๐Ÿ™‚ (It would be great; but it is so far!!! Sweden is too big!!!! ๐Ÿ˜‰ I love you Sweden!!) ๐Ÿ™‚

I could speak swedish with only a few other students… I don’t know, but the most of them have more difficulties to learn a language… Or it is me that is very good ๐Ÿ˜› ! (just joking)! No, but I hope for them that it will go faster no… and that the next time we meet, we will speak together swedish! ๐Ÿ™‚ Anyway, it is also always nice and good to speak english!! ๐Ÿ™‚ I feel that since I came here, also my English has improved… ๐Ÿ™‚

Also the leaders, at the „trip“ were very nice and friendly!! ๐Ÿ™‚ Both evenings we played social games where we had to speak swedish (or just try); that was also a great part! ๐Ÿ™‚

Overall I really liked Stockholm! ๐Ÿ™‚ It was a bit too cold for my tastes, and the day-light was also a bit too short… but it gave a nice christmas atmosphere! ๐Ÿ™‚ Stockholm, is a really expensive city. Maybe not so much as Zurich, but still… But as always, when you go in a new and touristic place, you always buy some postcards, souvenirs or just some presents… ๐Ÿ™‚

During the holiday I had also a curios feeling: I thought that after the holiday I would, as normally, go back „home“; but that home that I felt, was not the same „home“ in witch I am now… ๐Ÿ˜‰ (I mean that I thought that I would go back to Ticino…). I don’t think it was a feeling of home sickness, I would say that I re-realized that I am on an exchange year and that I will not go home for a long time… ๐Ÿ™‚

Since one week I feel pain on my left forearm! ๐Ÿ™ It is a muscular pain… maybe an inflammation, I don’t know… I hope not! Because of this, I will rest some more (don’t go to innebandy trainings), until it will be better and the pain will be gone. (I hope soon! ๐Ÿ™‚ )

Until thursday Joanna will be in Poland. She went there to look at her apartment and to make a lot of shopping (because it is cheeper)!! (she will come back with a car full of alimony and other stuff…). So now, here we are only mens for a couple of days… I just that this has both vantages and disadvantages. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Now we have to cook and do all the „house jobs“! So much work!! ๐Ÿ™‚ For example, tonight I am going to prepare some typical „fegato alla veneziana“ (liver), with of course potatoes! ๐Ÿ™‚ We’ll see how it will be…

Today also the school as restarted… ๐Ÿ™ ๐Ÿ˜‰ But it began well, because I met again my friends and we had a lot to talk about… ๐Ÿ™‚ but also because I got another A in math and a „Gut!“ in German (where we had also to translate Swedish-German/German-Swedish)! ๐Ÿ™‚

Yesterday, after some jogging in the cool and dark evening, I went to the „basto“ (sauna on swedish)!! ๐Ÿ™‚ It was really warm!! (strange? ๐Ÿ˜‰ But it was good! I hope it has helped my body to „fight the pain“ and that it had a healing effect!! ๐Ÿ™‚

okey, now I have to go: outside it is getting dark (and it is 16:25) and I have to go shopping (liver, milk, yoghourt, oranges,…) ๐Ÿ™‚

Have a great time in Switzerland (or everywhere you are)! ๐Ÿ™‚

Many hugs and kind greetings! ๐Ÿ™‚
