YFU Switzerland

Welcome to YFU Switzerland, Michael!

Michael, Intern at YFU Switzerland

Hello my name is Michael and I am the new Intern at the office here in Bern.
I am 28 years old and did my exchange year in Germany, 2001 to 2002 where I had a fantastic year with many great cultural experiences. Since my exchange I have been an active volunteer by YFU Denmark where I have been working both outbound and inbound. For the past two years I have mainly been focusing on Info evenings where I have been trying to turn the focus from USA and to the Rest of the world. But it could also be arranging a Go-cart challenge amongst the YFU people or the occasional interview.

I have been spending the past years studying at the University in Odense where I Study International relations. At the University I am involved in the party committee where we arrange the social events for our co students.

I spend most of my spare time with volunteer work and sports. Twice a month I help kinds who needs extra help with their homework through the Youth Red Cross. Apart from working and volunteer work I enjoy biking, mountain bike and road racing, occasional swimming, standard dancing and going to the gym.

But I also enjoy being with my friends where we eat together, watch moves and hit the town.
As bonus info I can tell you that I am a Hughaholic as well as a chokoholic.

This fall I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to do an Internship, since YFU is at my heart it was natural for me to apply for one at YFU Schweiz. The reason for choosing Switzerland was because I wanted to stay in a German speaking country and to get to know how the Swiss are.

In the short time I have been here in Switzerland I have found out how much more Switzerland is as I imagined, this in the most positive way. I have also found out that too much cheese fondue can be dangerous. And that the YFU People of Switzerland are Fantastic 🙂

I am looking forward to get to know all the volunteers and members of YFU.
